The Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (EU) 2025/40 (PPWR) sets a new direction for packaging in Europe.
It aims to prevent packaging waste, increase reuse, improve recyclability, strengthen material control and reduce the environmental impact across the entire life cycle of packaging.
The Regulation entered into force on 11 February 2025 and generally applies from 12 August 2026.
12 August 2026
PPWR is now applicable across the European Union.
The future of packaging is circular.
The MT-400 has been designed for that future for more than 10 years.
The MT-400 has been assessed against the PPWR requirements applicable to the product and its intended use.

Article 5 requirements including PFAS limits are addressed with appropriate material selection and supplier evidence.
Made from recyclable materials with a defined end-of-life route. Supporting evidence is included in the technical file.
Designed for repeated use, cleaning, return and multiple rotations throughout the supply chain.
Product identification, component information and a structured evidence system support full traceability.
Declaration of Conformity and Technical File demonstrate conformity with the applicable requirements.
Our MT-400 Technical Documentation File is structured in 8 layers and includes all evidence used to demonstrate conformity.
1. Declaration of Conformity
2. Technical Assessment
3. Evidence Index
4. Component & Material Documentation
5. Supplier Compliance Evidence
6. Reuse & Cleaning Documentation
7. Recyclability & End-of-Life
8. Product Traceability
The file is maintained and updated as new PPWR requirements and technical criteria become applicable.

Yes. The MT-400 has been assessed against the PPWR requirements currently applicable to the product and its intended use.
Its compliance is supported by a dedicated Declaration of Conformity, Technical Assessment and structured Technical Documentation File, including evidence relating to materials, restricted substances, reuse, cleaning, recyclability, traceability and end-of-life.
The PPWR does not establish a general third-party “PPWR certification” for packaging.
Compliance is demonstrated through the applicable conformity assessment process, technical documentation and the manufacturer’s Declaration of Conformity.
For this reason, Multitank describes the MT-400 as compliant with the applicable PPWR requirements, supported by documented technical evidence.
No.
The MT-400 was designed as a reusable, returnable and cleanable transport packaging system more than 10 years ago, long before reuse became a central objective of the PPWR.
Its design supports repeated filling, emptying, cleaning, preparation for reuse and efficient return logistics throughout multiple use cycles.
PPWR did not introduce reuse into the MT-400 concept. It confirmed the direction in which the product had already been designed.
No. Not all PPWR labelling requirements apply from August 2026.
Several harmonised labelling requirements will become applicable at later stages as the relevant implementing measures and deadlines take effect.
Multitank will review and update the MT-400 identification and labelling requirements whenever the relevant PPWR provisions become applicable.
The PPWR introduces requirements progressively, with important milestones extending toward 2030, 2040 and beyond.
The MT-400 Technical Documentation File has therefore been designed as a controlled and evolving compliance file.
As new delegated acts, implementing acts, harmonised standards or technical criteria become applicable, Multitank will review the MT-400 assessment, update the supporting evidence where necessary and maintain the Declaration of Conformity accordingly.
Our objective remains the same:
Reuse. Return. Recycle. Repeat.
Multitank can provide customers with the MT-400 PPWR Declaration of Conformity, product technical information and supporting PPWR documentation.
The complete Technical Documentation File also contains detailed assessments, component information, supplier evidence, reuse and cleaning documentation, recyclability evidence and traceability records.
Certain detailed or supplier-related documents may be provided upon request, depending on the purpose of the customer’s compliance review.
The eight documents below form the core structure of the MT-400 PPWR Compliance File and provide the main technical basis supporting our Declaration of Conformity.
Together, they cover the key areas of the MT-400 assessment, including regulatory conformity, reusability, cleaning, recyclability, restricted substances, return logistics, traceability and supporting evidence.
Behind these core documents sits a more detailed internal technical file, including component Technical Data Sheets, supplier declarations, material documentation, test reports, food-contact and migration evidence, transport performance data, recycling evidence and other supporting records.
This detailed documentation is maintained and controlled internally by Multitank and may be made available upon request and prior agreement, depending on the purpose and scope of the customer’s compliance review.
Formal declaration that the MT-400 complies with PPWR applicable requirements.
